Whitecell Systems ApS is a company that develops and manufactures high-temperature polymer electrolyte membrane (HTPEM) fuel cell systems using green methanol as fuel. They produce CO₂-neutral power solutions, including generators and backup power systems, designed to replace conventional diesel generators by providing clean, quiet, and reliable off-grid power without emissions.
The project set out with a clear vision: to give the Technical Information Portal a modern backbone and a smoother editorial experience. The journey began with a full upgrade from Drupal 8 to Drupal 10, opening the door to the latest advancements in performance, security, and API. Along the way, the team reimagined the admin interface with a refreshed theme, making day-to-day management more intuitive and efficient.
At the same time, long-standing integration quirks with key third-party systems like Jira and Splunk were addressed, ensuring seamless data flow and reliability. A careful migration process safeguarded years of valuable content and files spread across multiple databases, while a renewed focus on accessibility, user experience consistency, and cross-browser compatibility elevated the site’s usability for every user.
Finally, performance optimization and updated modules (contrib or custom) / libraries brought the site to a new level of speed and stability, all while streamlining the editorial workflow. The result: a future-ready platform that not only runs stronger under the hood but also empowers its users with a cleaner, more efficient experience.
The Technical Information Portal had already been running successfully on Drupal 8, but the team saw an opportunity to future-proof the platform by moving to Drupal 10. The upgrade wasn’t just about staying current — it was about unlocking the benefits of a stronger, more modern foundation: a refined Core API, faster performance, and long-term security support. Drupal’s unmatched flexibility, powerful content modeling capabilities, and seamless integration options with third-party services made it the natural backbone for the next evolution of the Technical Information Portal.
