Organizations Involved

Rent-A-Parking was founded in Bogotá- Colombia (2016). Rent-A-Parking is a market based on the needs. On the one hand, its purpose is to rent a parking space near to your home or office; and on the other hand, people who have a parking space can rent their parkings to other people. In RentaParking people can publish, discover and reserve parking from their computer, tablet and mobile. The service is going to be provided in Bogotá, expanding to other cities in Colombia, and after that to cities where there is a need to rent a parking space.

Project timeline

Conceptualization:
Lean StartUp methodology was used with the purpose of studying the problems and solutions that customers have to apply them to specific customers through unique value proposition. It was decided to launch the mobile Application of the MPV (minimum product viability). It has a competitive differential advantage and its supported by a primary website as a communication channel enabled to receive suggestions from users.

Analysis and architecture:
A document of analysis and architecture was made in order to limit the scope of the conceptualization stage, initially, the main purpose was to develop an app with simplified features so that the client had the ability to identify the user interactions with the product, in accordance with the client it was decided to use IONIC as a framework for the app and Drupal 8 as the system administrator.

Design:
SeeD produced a design proposal for the mobile app and the another for the website.

Backend development:
The first version for mobile application was developed in IONIC using code elements in HTML5/JavaScript.

The website was made as a complement for the App, using Drupal as de CMS, enabling contributed modules. It provided the client the ability to have full administration of users via the website or the App.

Load testing was carried out to validate that the system supported the expected traffic and after verification by servers, it was directed to the new servers domains. After that, regular monitoring of the site was conducted during the first weeks.

About the project

It is a project which is intended for desktop and mobile usage. It allows to publish and rent parking spaces available for this purpose.

1. To Provide an adequate environment for the administration and the achievement of goals.
2. To Provide parameters which allows the measurement of actions and its market impact.
3. To Provide efficient communication channels between those who are involved in the project; client, landlords and parking users.
4. Product evolve and growth.

Why Drupal was chosen

1.Drupal can be adjusted to different formats in a simple way.
2.The large capacity of users administration. From the user panel control permissions can be edited for each type of user and to create users groups.
3.Simple graphical edition. It allows to make simple graphical editions or the landing page .
4.All content is structured, which allows to reuse the same content in differents landings.

Why these modules/theme/distribution were chosen

The main objective of the web site is the data storage, these modules are used to achieve a data exchange between the application and the web site. The App uses features such as get, patch, post and deleted.
Other general modules helped to prepare the website for SEO positioning, information security and integration with the payments provider.
