The Research Centre for Gender Equality (KETHI) is a Legal Entity under Private Law of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (General Government Body), which was founded in 1994, supervised by the General Secretariat for Family Policy and Gender Equality and is governed by a five-member Administrative Board.
KETHI activates in the promotion of gender equality in all sectors: social, political, cultural and economic life. It promotes gender mainstreaming in all aspects of private and social life, as well as the enhancement of positive actions for women, so as to contribute to the elimination of gender discriminations, stereotypes and inequalities. KETHI also implements national policies and institutional interventions aiming at eliminating gender gaps into private, social and public life.
The redesigned website of KETHI was developed in Drupal 9, with custom graphics and content migration from Wordpress to Drupal. The website is responsive, fully functional on mobile devices and is properly coded so that people with disabilities can use it. KETHI website's administrators and content managers are public servants most of whom with a social sciences background and little or no fluency in programming or computing. The fact that Drupal's modules and plugins empowers them with a user-friendly interface for crafting and formatting text, incorporating multimedia elements, and managing a wide range of content types, was reassuring and allowed them to focus on the important job of helping and counselling individuals in need.
