Organizations Involved

As ONE planned to begin their operation in April 2018, they identified the need to launch a brand new corporate communication platform, as well as be able to rollout and manage 30 new local websites, one for each of their subsidiaries across the globe. The corporate platform would work as a central place to allow ONE communications team a centralized source for the subsidiaries websites. ONE selected CI&T due to the company’s deep experience working with global companies using Drupal and leading large enterprise-wide Lean/Agile projects inside Fortune 100 firms.
CI&T has identified the three key milestones to support a unified ONE’s digital presence:
1- Build the global platform
2- Local site rollouts
3- Add and localize content

About the project

1- Goal/requirement:
The goal was to launch a brand new corporate platform, as well as be able to rollout and manage 30 new local websites in a tight schedule.

2- How we executed this project
In the first Agile sprint, CI&T conducted an intense discovery phase with ONE’s governance team, gathering the major business and technical requirements, their goals, and how the selected platform should play an important role in the project execution, performance and time to market. Important to mention that ONE and CI&T’s shared Lean & Agile value was paramount  to a successful result.

By relying on its proven Lean Digital process, CI&T was able to finish the UX/UI design, platform development and testing in less than five months.
CI&T's extensive knowledge of Drupal and Acquia Cloud Site Factory was key to defining and implementing a robust architecture, therefore leveraging the foundation needed for rapid development and value activation.

3- Results and feedbacks
The website went live in Feb 2018, making it possible for ONE to accept initial bookings two months ahead of the operation starting date. ONE reported many improvements over the previous solution since the launch of the new platform, which helped them fulfill the major strategic goals set during its inception:

・Boosted customer experience: streamlined menus, layout and location-based reminder pop-ups give users easy access to the items that add value to ONE’s brand and business.
・Enhanced functionality: by integrating with eCommerce and CRM tools, the platform offers a wide range of functions including scheduling, booking, bill of lading issuance, shipment tracking and inbound processing.
・Improved customer engagement: clients can subscribe to ONE’s service to receive news, shipping schedules, as well as surcharge change notices.
・Excellent content governance: Drupal-based CMS enables the content team to adjust and update content properly for all the sites as often as needed.

By the beginning of May 2018, a significant number of ONE’s valued clients were already using the platform for their day to day transactions. With the successful delivery, CI&T has become a recognized digital partner within ONE for executing the most challenging projects.

Why Drupal was chosen

To ensure the timely and successful launch of the new platform, ONE decided to adopt a framework with out-of-the-box features, yet flexible enough. This meant CI&T could use Drupal’s existing features, yet customize the code where necessary. With the global rollout in mind, reusability was another key requirement for the project. Meeting all the core project requirements, Drupal was identified as the ideal content management system for the platform.

Key modules/theme/distribution used:

Why these modules/theme/distribution were chosen

Acquia Lightning
At the beginning of the project, the decision of using Acquia Lightning distribution enabled us to accelerate the development with this selection of configuration and modules. Therefore, the backlog was consistently organized with everything that really generates value for the client. The Lightning distribution is pretty suitable with Acquia Cloud Site Factory Platform. Both together leverage us to a scenario where it is possible to launch local sites really quickly.

Workbench Workflow + Group
The Workbench Workflow module, which is available in this distribution combined with the Group module provides a convenient way to organize the content lifecycle and fits all requirements in terms of content flow. Workbench Workflow concept is very quick and simple and allows us to configure the Workflow states and transitions, whereas Group module gives us the granularity that we need to control all departments and the contents that belong to them.

Panels
Each section of the website is organized in top pages which contains highlight blocks to the second level of content. Panels module enables us to have different templates which are assembled by an admin interface making the process to create and organize top pages really efficient.

Views
Views is the most powerful way to enhance the website with dynamic information and that is why it is used in almost all Drupal projects. The inclusion of Views in Drupal 8 core reinforces that. Astellas is using Views everywhere: top pages, news list, and search results page.

Paragraphs
Instead of putting all content in one WYSIWYG body field including images and videos, end-users can now choose on-the-fly between predefined Paragraph Types independent from one another. Paragraph Types can be anything you want from a simple text block or image to a complex and configurable slideshow.

Acquia ContentHub
Acquia Content Hub is a cloud-based, centralized content distribution and syndication solution that enables customers to effectively publish, reuse, and syndicate content across a network of Drupal websites.
