Timex has a style for everyone, but when it came to developing a new commerce platform, the famous watchmaker wanted a style of its own. Timex has a global presence and wanted a commerce platform for catering to B2B needs. They wanted a platform that would reflect Timex’s global dominance and also offer a smooth and pleasing user engagement on their platform.
Creating a digital experience to drive true brand engagement was a priority for Timex. The watchmaker wanted an enhanced search engine, ability to create product assortments on the fly, easy and simple interface to manage product catalog, product description and images globally. All this without compromising on quality and ease of experience, Timex chose Melity.
Why Drupal was chosen
Timex always wanted to create a site that would reflect its iconic brand while offering an intuitive navigation and engaging mix of product, social, and editorial content. That’s the sole reason why Drupal was chosen for developing this platform for Timex. Drupal’s modular platform and multi-site, multi-lingual capabilities made it the perfect choice for Timex. The watchmaker now has a flexible commerce platform that offers a content management workflow with tight integration with backend ERP and order processing applications in a globally distributed environment.
They have a requirement for the bulk upload of data having around 1 million records that needs to be imported to the Drupal system. This is being handled out of the box using MySQL and importing of this data has taken few seconds.

Timex B2B is hosted with scalable web components having Load Balancers, Primary and Secondary databases, Varnish to serve anonymous traffic, Apache Solr with faceted search enabled. Apache Solr has been configured to index thousands of items.
Timex site has connectors which are configured to integrate (REST, SOAP) with payment gateway and backend ERP system.
Timex B2B is built to be completely responsive to have the perfect design for mobiles, handhelds and desktops.
