The Challenge

The goal of Freshmeet U was to establish an online community where college students could demonstrate their skills and be found by companies seeking new, talented independent contractors. The platform had to integrate community, work, and education into a smooth experience. Among the main difficulties were:

  • Scalable User Experience Design: Utilising design systems and modular front-end architectures to provide reliable, high-performing experiences for a range of user segments. It's quite challenging as it involves localisation-ready interfaces, reusable component libraries, and responsive layouts that adjust to the needs of both individual students and business clients.

  • Interactive Skill Assessment: Developing adaptive testing systems that measure user capabilities properly while maintaining integrity and fairness by analysing real-time inputs. To verify abilities beyond typical multiple-choice questions, these systems combine scenario-based simulations, real-world problem-solving exercises, and performance analytics.

  • AI-Driven Job Matching: Implementing clever matching algorithms into practice that combine behavioural insights, market trends, and skill data to produce tailored employment recommendations.
