About the project
The Challenge
The primary challenges were:
- Starting from scratch: Unlike many web transitions, no migration process was involved. The site was constructed from ground zero using Drupal 9.
- Module integration: Drupal 9 comes with a plethora of standard contributed modules. However, to cater to unique functionalities, custom modules had to be crafted and merged.
- Ensuring responsiveness: Given the worldwide audience and the variety of devices people use, the website needed to be universally accessible and user-friendly.
Our Solution
Standard must-have contributed modules like path auto, token, captcha, webform, ctools, etc., were harnessed.
For specialized requirements of the site, custom modules were devised and incorporated.
To ensure a fluid user experience across all devices, a custom theme was developed, and SASS/CSS was deployed for comprehensive responsiveness.
The Process
The evolution of the End Violence platform was structured as follows:
- Modules, both standard and custom, were selected judiciously to maintain functionality, speed, and security.
- Significant hours were channelled into theming, content formulation, and editing to make the site engaging and intuitive.
- Active collaboration with stakeholders was maintained, refining the website based on feedback and iterative reviews.
The Result
The outcome was a versatile Drupal 9 website with intuitive navigation, where:
- The team at End Violence Against Children can dynamically adjust content.
- Global users can effortlessly navigate, tap into resources, and connect with the collective mission.
In conclusion, end-violence.org stands out as a user-friendly platform to connect a global community, catalyze advocacy and provide knowledge for all those working together to end all forms of violence against children.
Why Drupal was chosen
The team at End Violence recognized the importance of having a robust platform that allowed them the autonomy to easily add, edit, publish, and manage content without constant reliance on a technical team.
Drupal, particularly Drupal 9, is renowned for providing such operational independence. The platform gives its users the freedom to be as self-reliant as they wish. After a quick orientation, the team at End Violence handled the platform seamlessly, minimizing the need for external assistance.
