Echo is a brand of the Japanese group Yamabiko, which has been developing and manufacturing garden tools for professionals and, more recently, private customers for over 75 years. The group currently employs 3,500 people worldwide.

Thousands of professional arborists, landscapers and gardeners worldwide count on ECHO every working day. They demand reliable and dependable tools that reduce fatigue, are comfortable to use and perform to the very highest professional standards.

The challenge

Alongside these products, the company is now expanding its Garden range of cordless tools for home users, with the focus on the European market.

Starting with around ten products, the catalogue site will evolve into an e-commerce solution that will enable European consumers to place orders and have them delivered to their homes.

The solution

  • A multi-market, multilingual site (16 languages) that will evolve to accept others in the future.
  • An elegant and inspiring product catalogue built on the foundations of Drupal Commerce.

In addition to the catalogue, we've developed a space where users can register the product they've just bought and benefit from an extended warranty. This area is also dedicated to distributors and dealers, who need access to a private area to manage the data of registered users.

Why Drupal was chosen

Managing languages, and more specifically translations, was a very important part of the development phase. To facilitate this task, we integrated a translation management framework optimised for Drupal (TMGMT) and implemented a global translation solution and specific procedures to quickly activate 16 countries and languages while retaining the necessary control and flexibility.
