The original website has evolved into a sophisticated matching and communication portal with personalised profile suggestions and extensive country-specific guidance, the site makes the matching process straightforward while also providing resources on contracts, visas, and insurance. With multilingual support, a large international network, and regular profile checks, AuPairWorld is a trusted choice for those seeking flexible, self-managed au pair arrangements providing a reliable means of communication between au pairs and host families.

Strategic system decoupling & enhanced functionality

Since its launch in 1999, AuPairWorld has grown into the leading global platform connecting families and au pairs. To continue innovating and expanding its capabilities, the platform required a complete backend overhaul and technology stack upgrade.

The first development phase focused on migrating from Drupal 7, a complex task involving the transfer of content from multiple legacy systems. With thousands of active users on the site, ensuring data integrity, secure communication, and uninterrupted availability was essential. The migration was executed seamlessly, with no downtime.

Next, a strategic architectural shift decoupled the website from the communication platform. Previously built on a shared technical foundation, updates were interdependent and cumbersome. The new separation allows each system to be maintained and scaled independently, while single sign-on guarantees a smooth, unified user experience.

Building on this foundation, new features were introduced to foster responsible use, increase engagement, and improve overall usability. A complete design refresh delivered a more intuitive, accessible interface with an enhanced dashboard and advanced search filters for better matching. The addition of real-time messaging elevated AuPairWorld into a modern communication hub, offering users a streamlined, state-of-the-art experience.
