Meet Smoky Mountain Institute

The Smoky Mountain Institute (SMI) is a research consortia of industry, small business, non-profit and educational institutions.

As an interdisciplinary collaboration, SMI is focused on developing unified smart service systems to co-create value for facilities and their users.

SMI targets three research components of smart service systems science for buildings .... 1) development 2) deployment and 3) use.

Coupling SMI expertise with its broad base of institutional facilities makes available the best of smart service system design and applications to faculty, staff and students ... enabling vibrant and engaged experiential learning communities.

SMI conducts research on the application of Smart Service Systems science to Buildings.
