The Challenge

For over 15 years, Seniorlink has pioneered solutions for caregivers across the nation, helping them provide their loved ones with the highest quality care. Seniorlink's unique in-home care solution, Caregiver Homes, dedicates experienced care teams to work alongside caregivers and their families, offering coaching and support at every step. With the development of Vela, they are providing a powerful new technology platform of collaboration and learning in the hands of caregivers, connecting them with the coaches, resources and information they need to provide high-quality care to their loved ones.

SeniorLink needed to upgrade their website to a modern, sleek and easy-to-navigate one that introduces Seniorlink as the parent company of Caregiver Homes and Vela and promotes Seniorlink as the trusted and credible source for information and support for homecare. The main objectives of the project were to:

  • leverage responsive and mobile-first design to allow for access on all devices
  • create a simplistic information architecture for a clean user experience
  • ensure the best technical architecture is in place to allow for scalability

The Approach

The design relied on the use of rich, customized photography of actual caregiver providers and the people who they care for within minimalistic white templates and bright blue and green accent colors. The Fresh digital creative shop used a "card" or "masonry" grid style layout to engage users from the outset and make content easily accessible. The entire content from the previous website was reviewed and rewritten, and many sections were condensed or cut out from the previous version.

Even though SeniorLink is a small site, Drupal was chosen to as the CMS platform since it was being developed in conjunction with the site for their product Caregiver Homes, and shares the same editors and some of the same functionality. Third & Grove created seven node types, some of which are output by Panelizer, and four bean types. Unique pages such as the Blog homepage are built with Page Manager. The new interface provides content editors a much improved and user-friendly system to make updates and manage their content layouts.

The Unveiling

Launched in the summer of 2016, the revamped site positions SeniorLink as THE trusted, credible, and experienced thought leader helping caregivers, professionals, recipients of care and potential partners and employees find useful information in the in-home care field.

Why Drupal was chosen

SeniorLink wanted an easy admin interface and a secure editing environment. They also wanted a scalable platform for future downstream integrations and personalizations. An added benefit was to be on the same platform as one of its product sites, Caregiver Homes.
