Still in progress, expecting parts of the modules will be contributed, the full solution will be an extension of Open Social

Participation, Intranet, Open and closed communities. They are all booming while we are doing our work more and more at home or on places without a lot of colleagues physical nearby. Online social cooperation is the new standard, but what about online business cooperation?

In cooperation with Finalist and Open Social, SIM started a project to further develop, optimize and perfect the Microsoft 365 extension for Open Social communities. At this moment we develop the MS365 extension better known as the Office365 extension.

About the project

We started to investigate with customers and prospects of SIM what the user need is between a social community and Microsoft tooling. This gave us insights about needs, priority and wishes. Some more technical research and discussions between Open Social, Finalist and SIM created a common ground about a solution.

With a lot of enthusiasm our team of UX designers, consultants and developers are creating the MS365 extension. What will we create next sprints?

  • Azure connection for roles and rights

  • Profile information and actual status

  • Chat/Audio-video call start via Teams

  • Connecting Groups with Teamgroups

  • Insight documents Teamsgroup

  • Start up reading/editing document in MS365 app

  • Searching documents Sharepoint

  • Linking documents Sharepoint

  • Personal widgets with relevant MS365 information

In this way we are confident that online communities will cooperate more and more and even better than before. Knowledge will be shared better and will be more transparent for participants of the community. Participation, knowledge and help will be given even before you expected this. People will be empowered more than before. Social and business will create the new standard in communities.

Why Drupal was chosen

We deliver open and closed communities for intranet and participation goals. We do this with Open Social which is Drupal based. So the extension MS365 should be Drupal too.
