Migration of website from Drupal 7 to Drupal 8
It wasn't a straight migration as along with upgrading the Drupal version, client wanted to have good updates at the back-end level so that he can easily follow the componentisation approach to build out the pages with required components.
Back to topMigration Approach:
1. A Detailed sitemap was created as per the discussion with client first.
2. As client needed the development on top of knapsack cloud components (https://www.knapsack.cloud/) so needed components were created with collaboration of the knapsack team
3. Then all content types, paragraphs were introduced to give support to all needed components and type of content.
Challenges:
1. Design itself was challenging as none of amendments can be overridden at Drupal theming level. All the components from knapsack (a react node JS based application ) has to be triggered to render the content .
2. Site was configured with Vagrant for local setup and Vagrant container itself was deployed to Pantheon
