Grofers is India’s largest online grocery supermarket. Grofers utilizes its efficient supply chain to deliver over 25 million products to customers in 16 cities every month.

Grofers was looking for an integrated solution for their hiring portal, enabling the career portal to connect with third party recruitment system to draw in candidates to view their job openings. The website also required to have content targeted to candidates like perks, employee testimonials all managed through CMS.

About the project

Our client wanted to have an independent career portal that can be easily managed by their HR/Recruitment team, high level project goals were:

  • A CMS that allows them to manage content quickly and efficiently
  • Clean Design that communicates to the user benefits and perks of working at Grofers
  • Ability to integrate with their existing ATS -- Recruiterbox.com & pulling of job information from their API
  • Migration of old job listings to Drupal careers portal.

Process/Approach

  • We worked with Grofers HR team to understand what all information they would like to show prospective candidates.
  • After couple of iterations we were able to finalise design, collaborative & quicker iteration allowed us to finalise design in a week's time.
  • Drupal 8 was chosen for its lean and easy to use CMS and flexible 3rd party integrations.
  • We defined the architecture for the site i.e content, taxonomy, tables, and custom modules required. 
  • After the CMS build, jobs were migrated from recruitmentbox.com to the Drupal 8 career portal using the ‘Recruitment box API’.
  • Job entries were made on the Recruiterbox.com portal. Any changes made to the Recruiterbox.com job portal would automatically reflect on the clients’ careers portal. Interested candidates clicking on any particular job opening, would be re-directed to the Recruiterbox.com portal for more details around the job opening & Application process.
  • Project was executed using Agile and was finished in 2 sprint of 1 week each. 

Outcomes:

  • With a short span to capture and engage any visitor the career portal has a balance of visual impact and information which is not overwhelming.
  • CMS allows their HR / Recruitment team to be self sufficient.
  • The integration ensured the client could continue using their existing toolchain that was working well for them but gave them a CMS for Employee branding and Recruitment marketing.
  • Clean structured careers portal that flows logically throughout the site together with clear navigation all contributed to a website that’s easy on the eye but encapsulates all the necessary functionality to drive a return on investment to the business.
  • Eliminated the need to toggle back and forth between systems reducing workflow inefficiencies and helped save time and streamline workflows between Grofers career portal and Recruiterbox.com.
  • Increased candidate applications compared to the old system.

Why Drupal was chosen

Grofers was looking for a CMS which will allow them to add/edit content in any format such as text, image, video, etc. on the fly, manage different user roles and provides restricted access to different roles and with the security. Drupal is an excellent fit for these requirements, additionally Drupal is extremely flexible for 3rd party integrations like their ATS system.
