Haqqi is a digital platform dedicated to preserving and disseminating human rights materials, including laws, publications, and research documents. Founded by the King Hussein Foundation, Haqqi's mission is to provide a comprehensive and accessible platform for individuals and organizations working to advance human rights in Jordan.

The King Hussein Foundation was founded in 1999  by Her Majesty Queen Noor to give enduring life to His Majesty King Hussein’s humanitarian vision and legacy by fostering equitable access for Jordanian and regional citizens to socio-economic, educational, health, and cultural opportunities for women, youth, and the marginalized to enable them to contribute meaningfully to national and regional development. The Foundation was built, in part, on the best practice sustainable development initiatives of the Noor Al Hussein Foundation which originated in the early 1980s.

Why Drupal was chosen

The decision to utilize Drupal for Haqqi was rooted in several key factors:

  • Prior Experience: The King Hussein Foundation had previously employed Drupal for a different project, which resulted in a positive experience with the platform. This familiarity made Drupal a natural choice for Haqqi.

  • Flexibility: Drupal's flexibility in content management and robust capabilities for handling large datasets made it an ideal fit for the diverse range of materials Haqqi aimed to host.

  • Community Support: Drupal boasts a vibrant and supportive open-source community. This ecosystem provided the King Hussein Foundation with confidence that they would have access to ongoing development, security updates, and a wealth of third-party modules to enhance Haqqi's functionality.
