Organizations Involved

The Eastern Mediterranean Poison Control Centers Network (EMPCCN) plays a critical role in enhancing the ability of member states in the EMEA and MENA region to tackle poisoning-related issues through the dissemination of information, advocacy, education, and research.

The current setup and IT infrastructure in place were outdated at the EMPCCN and did not support their ability to achieve their mission. With time against them - the EMPCCN needed a quick solution to help them upgrade their ability to communicate and coordinate efforts with their network partners across the region.

However, their lack of technical expertise and resources was a challenge that needed to be addressed.

A challenge quickly addressed by Vardot and Varbase CMS.

About the project

The EMPCCN needed to enhance its ability to fulfill its role as a network for partners across multiple and diverse nations. As such, they needed to urgently build a new website that features best practices and can help them scale and grow without breaking the bank due to the typically restricted budgets non-profits have dedicated for IT.

Website Launched on Time

Using Drupal 9 CMS and Distribution Varbase - our team was able to finish development work within 4 weeks. EMPCCN selected Vardot as their IT solutions partner largely because of the fact that Vardot was the team that produced and supports Varbase CMS.

Varbase CMS packs hundreds of continuously updated UX features, components, modules, and best practices (accessibility, SEO, privacy, security, etc.) - saving hundreds of development work hours.

Our team spent the remaining duration of the agreed-upon project delivery timeline conducting thorough quality assurance, support, and developing a growth road map for EMPCCN after the launch of their new Drupal website.

Complete Flexibility

The lack of in-house technical expertise is a common factor in almost all non-profit organizations, and the resources they allocate towards IT requirements are also a typical challenge for them.

With Varbase CMS, the EMPCCN can build, extend, and grow its digital network without the need to break the bank and rebuild its website all over again.

They can easily:

  • Build multiple sites and domains quickly run by the same CMS which saves them much-needed time and resources.
  • Translate their content and webpages to any language by a click of a button - optimizing that content for localized search engine behaviors.
  • Keep up with the latest module updates and UX upgrades thanks to the continuous support and upgrades that Varbase enjoys.
  • Integrate all mission-critical technologies they will need at any time without worrying about having to rebuild the website or replace the CMS.
  • Build dynamic and personalized webpages with Varbase' Layout Builder module.

Effective Communication and Content Structure

The EMPCCN publishes and shares information critical to multiple beneficiaries across the world - and most of the content uploaded on the website is contributed by a wide range of users in the form of organizations across their network.

Thus, communication and coordination within this network were paramount. It had to be seamless and convenient.

Using Varbase, EMPCCN can integrate any technologies that enabled them to do just that. Slack, for example, was their preferred integration to handle their immediate co-working and coordination requirements.

Apache Solr-powered search and indexing ensured that users were able to search and identify contact persons quickly thanks to the structured nature of each partner's information and profile pages on the site.
