Community contributions

During development, minor adjustments to contributed modules have been reported, and the project serves as a basis for future similar developments in academic environments. The team involved is committed to sharing experiences and best practices with the Drupal community in Portugal.

The Culture Collection of Porto (CCP) is a scientific and technological infrastructure of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto, which supports scientific research and biotechnology in Portugal and internationally with a vast collection of preserved and classified microorganisms.

The need arose from the desire to modernize the CCP's digital presence, ensuring a more intuitive, accessible, and informative platform that would meet the expectations of the scientific community and make it easier to consult the catalog and request services.

About the project

The main objective was to create a modern, clear, and functional platform, focusing on usability and performance. The site's structure was redesigned to facilitate access to the microbial catalog and the services provided.

Requirements such as:

  • Simple and responsive navigation

  • Apresentation of CCP's mission, services and contacts

  • Easy updating of content

  • Integration of news and highlights sections

  • Optimized forms for information requests

  • Migration of the complete catalog

The result is a renewed digital presence, aligned with the infrastructure's strategic objectives and its role as a resource of excellence for the scientific community.

Why Drupal was chosen

Drupal was chosen for its flexibility, robustness, and strong ability to manage complex, structured content. Its scalability, coupled with high-security standards and native multilingual support, made it the ideal choice for a scientific institution with international ambitions.
