UNICEF USA is a national non-profit organization that works to advance the global mission of UNICEF by rallying the American public to support the world's most vulnerable children. With a new brand vision, messaging, and content that needed to reflect the updated experience, UNICEF USA partnered with Sandstorm to build a new digital experience in Drupal via www.unicefusa.org that better conveys the organization's impact worldwide, while driving donations to improve the lives of children.
Taking an iterative approach, Sandstorm first launched the new D9 site with a focus on content reorganization, implementing UX best practices, and improving the content editing experience.
By streamlining content types and their fields and relying on Layout Builder, we were able to successfully migrate content from D7 to D9 in a way that maintained consistent layouts for similar content and helped guide content managers through the editing and migration process.
Streamlining the taxonomy on the site also allowed for a better implementation of related content across content types, so that users can focus on topics or issues that matter most to them.
UUSA was ready to upgrade their site from Drupal 7 to (at the time) Drupal 9. The flexibility of Layout Builder was a huge draw to achieve the content and experience needs of their ongoing campaigns, content strategy, and user engagement.
