Organizations Involved

Inspiration Travel, a Christian travel management company, was operating on an outdated system, which led to inefficiencies, high costs, and a lack of flexibility. OpenSense Labs partnered with them to deliver a comprehensive solution involving a newly built website with dashboards for travelers and event partners and, a custom booking engine. The project significantly streamlined operations, enhanced user experience, and eliminated dependency on legacy tools and manual processes.

Goals and Requirements: 

  • Rebuild the main business website and booking portal to act as the central platform for events and bookings. 
  • Create a fully functional booking engine (“Spire”) to handle business data and reservations. 
  • Replace Excel-based workflows for managing marketing sources, dropdowns, and group details. 
  • Enable event partners to access data independently via a dedicated dashboard. 
  • Improve usability with a clean and intuitive design for travelers, partners, and internal teams.

Why Drupal was chosen

Drupal was chosen for its ability to offer a scalable, customizable, and robust content management framework. It allowed for the development of a modular website and booking system that could adapt to Inspiration Travel’s unique workflows, including event publishing, booking management, and advanced reporting. Drupal’s flexibility enabled the creation of custom dashboards and features without the constraints posed by the previous system.

  • Role-based Access Control Modules: Ensured secure and differentiated access for travelers, agents, and partners. 
  • Pathauto: Automatically generates SEO-friendly URLs based on content types, saving time and improving site structure. 
  • Metatag: Allows you to add metadata to your website pages for improved SEO and social media sharing. 
  • Views Bulk Operations (VBO): For creating dynamic listings and visual analytics in dashboards. 
  • Redirect: Manages URL redirection to maintain link integrity and enhance user navigation. 
  • Admin Toolbar: Enhances the default Drupal toolbar with drop-down menus for quicker access to admin pages. 
  • Redis: Integrates Redis caching for faster site performance and better scalability.

Apart from using these contributed tools, OpenSense Labs developed custom solutions within the Drupal framework tailored to Inspiration Travel’s needs: 

  • A marketing source manager to remove dependency on Excel sheets and automate event-level data setup. 
  • A dropdown manager within the Spire admin interface for real-time, centralized control. 
  • Group details form to capture event-specific information, simplifying pre-event planning, and removing dependency on Excel sheets. 
  • An event partner dashboard offering real-time access to event performance and traveler data, reducing reliance on manual reports. 

These custom-built features ensured that all workflows were streamlined, intuitive, and directly aligned with Inspiration Travel’s operational goals.
